The AIADMK chief, currently campaigning for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, tells NDTV that her party's alliance will sweep the polls, and that she is not concerned by arithmetic of allies.
J Jayalalithaa begins her third term as Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister today. She has been sworn in by Governor SS Barnala, along with 33 cabinet ministers at the Madras University. Her AIADMK and its allies stomped to victory in the state elections, landing 203 of the 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
There is little doubt about how much Tamil Nadu wanted Jayalalithaa - her whopping victory proves that. But from her saris to the time of her swearing-in, Jayalalithaa does her homework and her math.
To a massive crowd of supporters waiting outside her home in Chennai, Jayalalithaa said, "The people were totally disgusted with DMK and were waiting for a chance to vent their anger against the DMK government. Once they got the opportunity, they showed their anger and resentment in no uncertain terms."
